Supporting Second Story
Second Story, previously known as Alternative House located in FairFax County, Virginia, is an organization that changes the lives of children, youth, and their families by providing a safe environment. A place that provides a safe haven for youth experiencing homelessness and/or youth & families in crisis. The right environment that enables growth and gives the opportunity to thrive. For the past 10 years, the MiKiDo Foundation has had the privilege of sponsoring Second Story. Each year, the MiKiDo Foundation enjoys supporting Second Story through hosting toys and clothes drive along with inviting the children to MiKiDo’s Annual Christmas Show. The youth have also been invited to participate in community programs such as self-defense workshops, cage fitness classes, and empowerment activities throughout the years.
Our Response to Covid
Unfortunately due to Covid-19, we were not able to meet in person to have our annual events for the years 2020 and 2021. In substitute of the Annual Event and toy drive, we remain a source of positive light for the youth of our community. Starting in 2021, with the hopes of helping the youth maintain their mental sharpness and physical fitness, they will be doing MiKiDo twice per week virtually at no cost. We hope for a bit of normalcy this year, 2022, and hopefully have our Annual Event and toy drive in person.
